Trailblazer Awards

In 2021 we launched the first African American Trailblazers award ceremony highlighting ordinary citizens who had made extraordinary accomplishments in the fields of Arts, Health Sciences, Law Enforcement, Social Activism, and Spiritual Leadership. This year 2023 there is no difference!

The Attleboro Juneteenth Committee is seeking nominations from every participating community in the region for ordinary citizens who lead with passion, and resilience, and, most importantly, who understand the African concept of “Ubuntu” I am because you are ~ lifting as you rise. Nomination categories can be found below.

Trailblazers are presented with a certificate and Awarded with a flag that is raised in their honor in a ceremony on Juneteenth.

The Attleboro Juneteenth Committee is seeking nominations for the second annual African American Trailblazer Service Awards. Nominations are open until 5 p.m.

May 26, 2023. The awards will honor residents who have made outstanding civic accomplishments and significant contributions to the Southeast region, MA in the following categories:

Business and Economic Advancement Award– This award recognizes local business professionals who have displayed entrepreneurial character, high standards, innovative professional practice, and committed support of their local community.
Community Activism and Politics Award– This award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated, through achievements, the ability to advocate, organize and engage citizens, and inform public policy on issues that improve the quality of life for the community.
Educator Award– This award honors those who, as a teacher, instructors,s or school administrators, have demonstrated excellence in mentoring, guiding, and preparing students to achieve their full potential.
Emerging Leader Award– This award celebrates an up-and-coming individual who demonstrates a commitment to leadership and substantial potential for innovation, creativity, vision, and positive influence.
Spiritual Community Award– This award will be presented to a spiritual leader who has transcended organizational boundaries to promote spiritual and religious growth, partnership, and engagement through inspired action and visionary leadership.
Public Service This award recognizes an individual in the public service sector who has demonstrated patience, compassion,
